High 5's for the Lows

Today feels like a dumb day.

Lots of emotion and I'm not sure exactly why.

Where did my calm Zen self go?

I'm making mistakes all over the place and feeling all the feels that come with that.

Frustration, discouragement, impatience, confusion, judgment.

Parenting teenagers feels hard. 

Teaching my kids life lessons and principles is important to me.

But they don't seem to like it or me so much.

I've been told their reactions mean I'm parenting the right way. 

If so, it feels totally counterintuitive to my emotion-driven self.

It feels terrible, which makes me want to believe that I'm doing it all wrong.

I'm choosing to feel my feelings and trusting this will pass. (It always does.)

Today I choose to have my own back and high 5 myself in the mirror, and metaphorically.

If you're having a rough day, High 5 yourself and be there for you like you'd there for your best friend.

What is the downside of being kind and compassionate with yourself?
