Hello Sunshine

Once a week my 16-year-old son and I drive across town for a weekly appointment.

Both of us are music lovers and enjoy compiling our favorites into playlists on Spotify.

We enjoy many different genre's and it's fun when he shows me a song he likes that is from my childhood. (Think Engelbert Humperdinck, Dr. Hook and more.)

Driving is our favorite time to share music with one another.

When we find songs that we both enjoy it's a huge bonus.

Today my son shared U2's MLK and told me how important this song is to him.

Little did he know, it's important to me, too.

This is the song I chose to listen to the morning of September 11, 2001, before I knew the twin towers of World Trade Center and the Pentagon had been hit and changed our world forever.

Driving to work that day just felt different and I didn't know why until a little later, and this song matched my mood.

Today was sunny and bright, and for a few minutes the rain broke through the clouds and matched the lyrics, just for us.

Sunshine and rain.

Good and bad.

Easy and hard.

The 50/50 of being alive and human.
