Flower Essences: What They Are and How They Work

Flower essences are a form of homeopathy, which I like to call "information therapy."

They contain the essence/energy of the flower's story, which when properly matched to someone's mental/emotional symptoms, can be calming and healing.

They are in liquid form and are typically taken as drops in water, but can be put directly into your mouth or on the skin. I have seen Rescue Remedy (listed below) in pastille form.

In my sessions with clients I often find them a flower remedy or two to help support them with physical, mental or emotional symptoms.

You can easily read the profile and see which flowers are a good fit for you and your loved ones.

There are thirty Bach Flower Essences. I will be sharing more about these flower essences over the next month.

WHITE CHESTNUT BACH FLOWER ESSENCE

Description:

For those who cannot prevent thoughts, ideas, arguments which they do not desire from entering their minds. Usually at such times when the interest of the moment is not strong enough to keep the mind full. Thoughts which worry and will remain, or if for a time thrown out, will return. They seem to circle round and round and cause mental torture. The presence of such unpleasant thoughts drives out peace and interferes with being able to think only of the work or pleasure of the day.

RESCUE REMEDY BACH FLOWER ESSENCE

Description:

Rescue Remedy is reported to have a positive calming and stabilizing effect in an extremely broad range of stressful situations, which include but are not limited to: nervousness, anxiety, accidents, bereavement, times of great fright, anguish, and desperation. Even minor everyday stresses, such as arguments, taking exams, making speeches, job interviews or other similar stressful situations, are reportedly helped greatly with Rescue Remedy.

Rescue Remedy is the most famous of the remedies, but in fact is not a remedy at all, but rather a mix of five different remedies Cherry plum, Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose, and Star of Bethlehem, which together help deal with any emergency or stressful event. Taking a driving test, exam nerves, speaking in public, after an accident or an argument - there are countless uses for Rescue Remedy.

In an emergency Rescue Remedy can be taken neat from the bottle, four drops at a time, and as frequently as required. Otherwise put four drops in a glass of water and take frequent sips until the emotions have calmed.
