Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps began using visualization and relaxation techniques at the young age of eleven.
His swim coach, Bob Bowman gave Michael's mother a book on visualization and relaxation techniques to help him focus and channel his energy.
Each evening she would read visualizations to him so he could practice them.
Over the years he has successfully used these techniques.
He has practiced his swim races in his mind hundreds of times.
Visualizing himself from different perspectives and scenarios in and out of the pool.
He even rehearsed for things that might go wrong and how he'd manage them.
When race times came, Michael was so well-practiced in his body and mind, that he'd simply go on autopilot.
This secret tool is why he became one the of the greatest Olympian's of all-time.
Now, you are likely not an Olympic athlete, and neither am I, but our lives are no less important.
What we practice each day becomes the life we live.
