Saturday I went to visit my daughter and get my hair cut.
Sporting my mint green, ten-dollar Walmart shorts and feeling comfy, she immediately says...
Kaylee: "Mom, you can't wear those shorts."
Me: "Why?"
Kaylee: "They're bad."
Me: "How bad are they?"
She proceeds to tell me, and because it's not PC, I won't be sharing what she said with you.
Suffice it to say, I don't think I'll be wearing the shorts in public again.
What you may not know is I've been underweight a lot in my life, so this 'unexplainable" weight gain during peri-menopause can feel like total loss of control.
The things I used to do before, no longer work they way they used to.
AND while this is happening to my body, I can't figure out what to wear and I often still feel like I'm in my twenties.
This aging stuff can be a real challenge at times.
After our lovely conversation, she gave me an awesome haircut, and now I'm sporting bangs, which I haven't worn for years.
Guess what?! My entire bang section is made up of the foxy-silvery-white strip of gray hair on my head.
Front and center!
I'm choosing to think it's cool and working on embracing it fully.
My round tummy, my weight, my gray.
Definitely learning to not take myself so seriously.
So grateful for my coaches that help me manage my brain around all my drama. I wouldn't be where I am today without them.
XOXO~Jill
