Have you ever felt stuck with a physical symptom that just won’t go away?
A client recently came to me with persistent wrist pain. Years earlier, she’d injured it doing a handspring. Despite treatments like a cortisol shot, the discomfort lingered.
When we explored her wrist through metaphoric processing, she described it as feeling trapped in a tiny jail with bars. Her wrist "told" her: "I feel stuck. I feel like I can’t progress, and I feel left behind."
The wrist felt lonely, watching the rest of her body move forward. When I asked her what the wrist needed, she said, "It needs a key, and it needs ballet slipper pink—a soft, comforting color—to feel free again." I told her to imagine the key doing what it needed to do, and imagining this ballet slipper color. Almost immediately she started to notice change, and when I reached out to her a few days later, she told me that her wrist was feeling much happier.
