Mel Robbin's, has this amazing little journal called "The High 5 Habit Journal."
It includes a simple exercise that is powerful for creating more self-love and awareness.
Stop what you're doing for a moment and try it.
Place your hands on your heart and say out loud,
"I am ok. I am safe. I am loved."
Notice what your body and mind do as you say this.
Does your brain believe it?
Does your body relax or tense up?
Your body is wise and will let you know if you believe it or not by how it feels.
It may be obvious, or subtle.
If you're not believing or feeling it, try this little trick.
Put your hands on your heart again and say,
"I might be ok. I might be safe. I might be loved."
Notice again how your body responds.
If it resonates as true your brain and your body will feel more relaxed and accepting.
If it feels resistant in any way, back up even more and say something like
"I am here right now."
or
"I am me."
That is what I call "getting to neutral."
Forcing yourself to believe or feel something that you don't creates more resistance.
Resistance doesn't allow you to move past it.
Try this with something in your life right now that you wish was different.
Play with it. Be curious. See what you find.
This is just one of the many tools I use in my life, and I teach it to my clients.
If we're already working together and this interests you, let’s practice it together in one of your sessions.
