We Don’t Heal Alone — and We Don’t Have To

There’s a quiet myth many of us carry:

If I were stronger, I’d be able to do this on my own.

We absorb it early.
We reinforce it unconsciously.
And it keeps us isolated at the exact moments we most need support.

But healing has never been a solo act.

Even when the work is internal — even when no one is fixing, advising, or rescuing — something powerful happens when another nervous system is present.

Regulated presence matters.

In the Valentine’s gathering I hosted this month, there was no pressure to share. No requirement to speak. Cameras could be on or off. People were invited simply to arrive with their bodies and some curiosity.

What I noticed was this:
Just knowing they weren’t alone changed how people listened to themselves.

When we stop bracing against isolation, the body softens. When we don’t have to prove we’re okay or capable, something inside us relaxes enough to show what’s actually there.

Healing doesn’t require dependence.
It requires contact.

Not being fixed.
Not being analyzed.
Just being with someone who isn’t afraid of what you might feel.

We don’t heal alone.
And we don’t have to.
