What we choose to put into our minds is entirely up to us. This simple truth became crystal clear to me recently while listening to Bob Proctor, a man with over 50 years in personal development and an inspiring story of helping people create abundance in every area of their lives.
But here's what really struck me: when we're working to rewrite old negative mental programs, we need to be intentional about creating new ones. And sometimes, we need help to do it effectively.
Anything done with repetition, emotion, and vivid imagery works extremely well for rewiring our minds. The challenge? Sometimes we can't generate that powerful combination on our own. Our old stories and limiting beliefs feel too entrenched, too familiar.
That's when we need to seek out voices we admire and trust—people who can help us cultivate the new thoughts, images, and feelings we want to live inside.
Before pursuing my Life Coach School certification, I immersed myself completely in learning. I consumed every podcast Brooke Castillo produced, worked through every worksheet she offered, and joined her monthly membership program at $297/month. It was worth every penny.
When it came time for my final six-month internship, I chose the Applied Coaching track over Entrepreneurship because I wanted every available opportunity for the best coaching education, experience, and feedback. It was one of the best decisions I've made.
The learning didn't stop there. After certifying in Integrative Change Work, I continue attending bi-monthly training sessions, regularly connecting with my mentors Melissa Tiers and Simone Seoul, and practicing with peer coaches. This ongoing investment continues to pay dividends.
Over the past five years, I've been fortunate to work with incredible coaches who've become dear friends:
My first coach is a trained Life Coach and LCSW who has walked through so much with me over five years. Her support has been transformational. She has become a dear friend.
My second coach is a master Integrative Change Worker whose expertise with the 4-step meta pattern never fails to amaze me. She's a Projector in Human Design and brings such insight to our work together. She has also become a dear friend.
My third coach came into my life during Integrative Change Work practice sessions. We connected immediately. She's a talented musician, artist, and coach who helps me see myself in beautiful and empowering ways while serving as an incredible accountability partner.
Each of these relationships has been a gift, and I'm deeply grateful for how they've shaped my growth.
Why share all this? Because I believe deeply in having at least one source of support and guidance in your corner.
Here's what I've learned: time is currency, just like money. Are you spending yours on things that grow you or drain you?
Investment doesn't have to mean expensive coaches. It could be a powerful book that shifts your perspective, an inspiring podcast that challenges your thinking, a meaningful documentary that opens your eyes, or even a movie that changes how you see yourself and the world.
So here's the real question: What are you doing with those thoughts that don't serve you? What do you want to replace them with? What do you want to think, feel, and imagine instead?
Sometimes we need support to see our choices clearly and feel empowered to make different ones. Change doesn't happen overnight—it's one small step at a time. And here's the most important part: you're not broken. This is a normal part of being human, and you absolutely can change if you want to.
Remember, no one can do the work for you, but you can have excellent guides to help you do it. Whether it's your time, your money, or both—investing in your growth is always worth it.
Every thought you think is a choice. Every emotion you allow to linger is a choice. Every story you tell yourself about who you are and what's possible is a choice.
The question that matters most: What will you choose?
