This morning during my meditation, I was sitting with this critical, punishing behavior I have toward myself - you know, that harsh inner voice that never seems satisfied? As I pondered how to shift this pattern, something interesting happened.
Immediately, I thought/saw tuning forks in my head.
Now, here's where it gets real: I almost dismissed it. Just like I dismiss so many of these little intuitive hits that come fast and often, running in the background of my consciousness like quiet whispers I've trained myself not to hear.
But this time, I decided to listen. And what happened next completely shifted my understanding of how healing really works.
The question I want to ask you: What inner messages have you been dismissing lately because they seemed too simple, too weird, or too good to be true?
I've been learning about how our bodies are constantly communicating with us - through those quick thoughts, sudden images, or feelings of being drawn to something specific. But here's what I've noticed about myself (and maybe you can relate): I often discount these messages as "silly," "random," or "not important enough."
Why we dismiss our inner wisdom:
But what if the way forward is easier than we think? What if your body already knows what it needs?
That morning, I gave myself permission to follow that tuning fork prompting. I grabbed my tuning forks and sonic slider (learned about from Eileen McCusick) and sat down. I muscle tested which one I needed - got 4 hits on my hockey puck (yes, I asked my cute neighbor boy for one!).
Then I felt prompted to do EFT tapping for 3 rounds. I drew a body in my journal and asked where this critical energy was stuck - in my head. So I used my sonic slider on my forehead (third eye), crown of my head, cheeks, and the back of my skull.
I could feel my face and head draining. I even coughed as mucus came down my throat (gross, I know, but healing isn't always pretty!).
Here's what fascinates me: I've been studying both sound healing and Dr. John E. Sarno's work on back pain, and they've come to the same conclusions through different paths.
Dr. Sarno's discovery: Most chronic pain isn't caused by something broken in your body - it's caused by emotions and stress that get "stuck" and show up as physical pain. When you understand this mind-body connection and deal with the emotions, the pain often disappears.
Sound healing/Body Code approach: Your body has energy centers that can get blocked by emotions, stress, or trauma. When we use specific sounds or frequencies, we can help release these blocks, and physical symptoms often improve.
Same conclusion, different tools. Both recognize that our bodies are wise and know how to heal - we just need to listen and find the right approach for us.
Most people I work with have been trying lots of different approaches to heal their pain and physical issues - from traditional allopathic medicine to various forms of bioenergetic medicine. They've seen doctors, tried supplements, done therapy, explored energy work. Sometimes things help a little, sometimes not at all.
But here's what I'm learning through my own experience and working with clients: our bodies are wise and know how to heal. We each have intuition to guide us toward exactly what we need.
The challenge isn't finding the "right" method - it's learning to tap into our inner knowing and trust what feels right for our unique journey.
There's not one way to heal. Sometimes it's the one thing - the right thing - that's the key to unlocking an issue. Sometimes it's allopathic medicine, sometimes bioenergetic work, sometimes it's that random idea that pops into your head during quiet moments.
I'm making a commitment to myself: I'm going to be still, listen, and actually act on these inner promptings instead of blowing them off. Even when - especially when - they seem too simple or unusual.
What I'm committing to (and what's making all the difference):
I'm keeping notes in my journal to track this journey and make myself more aware of what's actually happening inside me. Maybe the real healing happens when we stop searching externally for the "perfect" solution and start honoring the wisdom that's already within us.
Here's what would change in your healing journey if you trusted that your body already knows what it needs:
You'd stop second-guessing every intuitive hit. You'd pay attention to those random thoughts about what might help. You'd trust that simple solutions can be powerful. You'd honor your unique path instead of trying to force someone else's formula.
This week, try this: When you get a random thought about something that might help you, instead of dismissing it, write it down. Then sit quietly and ask your body: "What do you need right now?" Pay attention to what comes up, no matter how unusual it seems.
Your body has been trying to tell you something. Maybe it's time to listen.
